Halifax Regional Police responded to 707 calls for service over the weekend. Two notable incidents are as follows:

Police investigate weapons complaint and seize multiple firearms

On June 28 at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers responded to a weapons complaint in the 10 block of Evans Avenue in Halifax. It was reported that someone was firing a pellet gun at birds from a residence. During the investigation, officers located the residence and arrested the suspect at approximately 9:10 p.m.

There were no reports of physical injuries.

During the investigation, a search warrant was conducted at the residence and 12 firearms, including an air rifle and a quantity of ammunition, were seized.

A 50-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, discharge of a firearm-recklessness and unsafe storage of a firearm.

Police investigate vehicle-pedestrian collision

On June 29 at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian collision at the intersection of Victoria Road and Frances Street in Dartmouth. A 49-year-old man was crossing the street when he was struck by a vehicle. The man was not in a crosswalk. The man was transported to hospital by EHS, with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been laid at this time.
