Halifax Regional Police responded to 980 calls for service over the weekend. One notable incident is as follows:
Police arrest and charge prolific shoplifter
On August 2 at approximately 8:30 a.m., officers responded to a theft in progress at Superstore, located at 3601 Joseph Howe Drive in Halifax. Staff reported a man known to them from previous theft incidents concealing food in a bag.
The suspect left the store without paying but officers located and arrested him on Main Street about five minutes later.
Devon Earl Deal, 37, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00 (x6)
- Theft under $5000.00 (x6)
- Fail to comply with probation order (x9)
- Fail to comply with conditions of release order (x5)
- Resist arrest
