Winter Weather Advisory

Police advise motorists to stay off the roads if they are able. The heavy snowfall and blowing winds have made the road conditions hazardous for driving. Less vehicles on the road makes it easier for the snow plow drivers to perform their duties. If motorists need to venture out into the storm police are advising them to adjust their driving habits and be mindful of the changing road conditions throughout the day. A vehicle’s stopping distance increases when it’s slippery so allow extra space between your vehicle and the one ahead of you. When approaching a red light or stop sign, begin stopping earlier to help prevent sliding into the intersection.

Visibility may also be an issue. Motorists are asked to watch for pedestrians and other vehicles. Pedestrians are reminded to make eye contact with drivers and wait until the vehicle comes to a complete stop before attempting to cross the road. We thank motorists and pedestrians for doing their part to help keep our roads safe, particularly during snow storms.
