The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that based on a recommendation from the Province of Nova Scotia’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the evacuation order has been lifted for the Ostrea Lake fire that started on Sunday, June 22.
All residents from the area impacted by the fire can return to their homes starting at 12:30 p.m. today. However, residents are reminded to continue monitoring for updates on municipal social media and to sign up for hfxALERT, if they have not already, in case the situation changes.
Since the evacuation order has been lifted, the evacuation centre that had been opened at the Eastern Shore Community Centre, 67 Park Road, Musquodoboit Harbour, has closed.
Update on the fire
Drones from Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency (HRFE) conducted an overflight of the fire area this morning. Using thermal imaging they were able to identify minor hot spots with no areas of major concern.
DNR remains in command of the fire and HRFE, along with RCMP, will remain in the area as a precaution to monitor the situation.

Ordre d’évacuation levé – Incendie du lac Ostrea – 23 juin à 12 h 20
La Municipalité régionale d’Halifax informe les résidents que d’après une recommandation du ministère des Ressources naturelles (MNN) de la province de la Nouvelle-Écosse, l’ordre d’évaluation a été élevé pour l’incendie du lac Ostrea qui s’est déclenché le dimanche 22 juin.
Tous les résidents de la zone touchée par l’incendie peuvent retourner à leur domicile à compter de 12 h 30 aujourd’hui Cependant, on rappelle aux résidents de continuer à suivre les mises à jour sur les médias sociaux municipaux et de s’abonner à hfxALERT, s’ils ne l’ont pas déjà fait, si jamais la situation devait changer.
Puisque l’ordre d’évacuation a été levé, le centre d’évacuation qui avait été ouvert au Centre communautaire Eastern Shore, situé au 67, chemin Park, Musquodoboit Harbour, est fermé.
Mise à jour sur l’incendie
Des drones du Service régional d’urgence et de lutte contre les incendies d’Halifax (HRFE) ont effectué un survol de la zone de l’incendie ce matin. À l’aide de l’imagerie thermique, ils ont été en mesure de détecter des points chauds mineurs sans aucun secteur de préoccupation majeure.
Le MNN contrôle toujours l’incendie et le HRFE, ainsi que la GRC, demeurera dans le secteur à titre de précaution pour surveiller la situation.
