Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Dartmouth last year.

On December 22, 2024, police responded to Geary Street in Dartmouth for a report of a male who had been assaulted by a female. Paramedics responded but the man declined medical attention and further police investigation.

On December 26, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m., police responded to a call to the Geary Street area where the same male was located deceased in a tent. The male was identified as 56-year-old Jeffrey Alexander Emmerson.

Last week, the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service notified police that the autopsy findings indicated the manner of death to be homicide.

The investigation is currently being investigated by HRP/RCMP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.

The female involved in the assault is described as white, 20-25 years old, 4’10” tall, medium build with shoulder length dark hair wearing a blue jacket and red sweatpants.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 902-490-5020.

Halifax Regional Police extend their condolences to Mr. Emmerson’s loved ones.
