Halifax Regional Police responded to 664 calls for service over the weekend. Some notable incidents are as follows:
Police lay charges in bomb threat
On October 25 at approximately 4:10 p.m., officers responded to a bomb threat at Halifax Shopping Centre, located at 7001 Mumford Road in Halifax. Staff reported that a youth entered a store, handed someone a note stating they had a bomb and then immediately left. Mall security began evacuating the mall immediately.
The initial responding officers began looking for the suspect and potential bomb. Additional officers assisted with the safe evacuation of the patrons. There were no reports of physical injuries.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., officers located and arrested the suspect on scene and determined the threat was unfounded. The mall was reopened shortly after. There were no reports of suspicious packages in the mall and none were located.
A 13-year-old youth is scheduled to appear in Halifax youth court at a later date to face a charge of mischief.

Police lay robbery charges
On October 26 at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a robbery that occurred at Sobeys, located at 210 Wyse Road in Dartmouth. Staff reported a man entered the store, demanded money from the cash register and threatened them with a knife. The man was unsuccessful in getting any money from staff and left the store. There were no reports of physical injuries.
As officers responded, there were additional reports that the man was in the parking lot slashing tires.
At approximately 5:55 p.m., officers located and arrested the man on scene without incident.
Jonathan Richard Comeau, 53, appeared in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of:
- Attempted robbery
- Assault with a weapon (x2)
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
- Failure to comply with conditions of release order
