Halifax Regional Police is issuing a traffic/parking advisory in relation to the Tall Ships Festival taking place July 19 to 23.

Increased traffic, both vehicle and pedestrian, is expected around the Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts and other coastal front areas starting Thursday. The Tall Ships’ Parade of Sail on Monday, July 23 is expected to draw a lot of spectators. Motorists should expect some delays in the downtown cores on both sides of the harbour. Concerns have also been raised about parking especially in coastal neighbourhoods. During previous Tall Ship events, parking in these areas has been problematic and prevented emergency vehicles from getting through streets and roads.

Police remind citizens that parking during Tall Ships will be monitored. Vehicles found in violation will be ticketed and possibly towed.
