A man faces charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as a result of two drug searches in Halifax.

On December 26, Patrol Officers responded to a drug-related complaint at an apartment building in the 5400 block of Victoria Road. As a result, the HRP/RCMP Integrated Guns & Gangs Unit executed a search warrant at 7 p.m. on an apartment within the apartment building and seized approximately 175 pounds of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia.

The investigation later resulted in members of the HRP/RCMP Integrated Drug Unit and the HRP/RCMP Guns & Gangs Unit conducting a search of an apartment in the 1200 block of Hollis Street at 11:57 p.m. Officers seized quantities of marijuana, cocaine and cash as well as drug paraphernalia and a number of cell phones.

At 10:20 a.m. today, the suspect in this matter turned himself in at Police Headquarters where he was arrested. Twenty-nine-year-old Justin Gillis Beaver of Halifax was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face two counts of trafficking in marijuana and one count of possession of cocaine.
