FILING A FALSE POLICE REPORT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE

 

File an incident report in French

You will be able to file reports on the following activities.

Theft - File an Online Report
Your property has been stolen. Lost property is not a theft - use the Lost and/or Found Property Form. Example: Stolen purse, wallet, computer, electronic equipment, barbeque or bicycle.  

Theft from a Vehicle - File an Online Report
Your property has been stolen from a vehicle. Example: Stolen phone, stereo, purse, lap top.

Lost or Found Property - File an Online Report
Your property is missing or lost or you have found lost property. Does not include lost vehicles. Example: Lost keys, wallets, identification, phone or jewellery.

Fraud - File an Online Report
You are a victim of a fraud if by deceit, falsehood, or other fraudulent means a person has defrauded you of property, money or valuable security or service. Example: Fraud by credit card, bank card, cheque or counterfeit money; identity theft.

Mischief or Damage to Property - File an Online Report
Your property has been defaced or damaged. Example: Broken windows, fences or mail boxes; damaged siding; graffiti.

Damage to a Vehicle - File an Online Report
Your vehicle has been defaced or damaged. Example: Scratched, dented or "egged" vehicle; broken windows or lights; slashed tires; vehicle hit by shopping cart.

Leave a message for an officer - Leave a message
You may leave a message for an officer.

Add information to an incident - Add information
You may add information to an incident - you will be required to have the General Occurrence Number (GO#).

Only the actual complainant, owner or authorized representative can make a report; reports will not be taken from a third party.

The information you submit in your report will determine the type of report that will be completed.

You will be contacted with a General Occurrence Number and/or further information by phone or email, normally within 24 hours.

Situation Halifax Regional Police RCMP

When immediate action is required: someone's health, safety or property is in jeopardy or a crime is in progress.

Examples: Assaults, break and enters, fights, gunshots, vehicle accidents with injuries, robberies.

Please DO NOT call 9-1-1 for any non-emergency matters. When in doubt, call 490-5020.

When you need an officer to come to the scene but it's not an emergency.

Examples: Driving complaints in progress, noise complaints in progress, historical sexual assaults.
