Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality would like to remind residents that the rescheduled Welcome BBQ will be held this Sunday, Aug. 30, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the Halifax Common.
We hope you can join us to celebrate our diverse communities and welcome those who are new to the Halifax region. There will be live entertainment from a variety of artists, including Halifax’s famous traditional Korean Drum Band with DK Shin, Drummer Glenn and the Mas Cencerro Collective, gospel singers, McEdward Jones and the Crew, and the talented Halifax multicultural drummers with Olugu Ukpai.
Other activities will include an energetic Zumba dance with Florence Simmons, a visit from Monique Ryan of Serpentine Studios, creative face painting, arts and crafts with the Art Bikers, and much more.
The annual Welcome BBQ is planned and delivered each year by a committee representing many organizations that serve newcomers in our region with the goal to create an intercultural gathering for all.
