December Traffic Unit Update

The Halifax Regional Police Traffic Unit as well as patrol members, will focus on the fight against impaired driving during the month of December through the Operation Christmas initiative, which kicked off today in Bridgewater.

Operation Christmas is a province-wide annual campaign that aims to reduce impaired driving and encourage motorists to practice safe winter driving. During the campaign, the Traffic Unit will conduct checkpoints throughout the region to ensure that drivers on our roadways are sober and educated on the dangers of getting behind the wheel while impaired.

Driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs puts everyone in danger. In December 2009, MADD Canada and the Province of Nova Scotia launched Campaign 911 which encourages people to call police with information on suspected impaired drivers. HRP continue to be encouraged by the number of citizens helping to play a role in community safety. If you have information on an impaired driver, please call 911.
