Halifax Regional Police are warning the residents of HRM to stay off of lakes and ponds at this time. The weather conditions this year have not been sufficiently cold enough to freeze the lakes and ponds to allow for safe walking or skating on most bodies of water in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Residents can contact the HRM call centre at 311 for more information on ice safety and updates on ice thickness and testing.
