PLANAPP 2023-00563 - Herring Cove Road, Halifax



Brighter Community Planning & Consulting is applying to enter into a Development Agreement to create 41 lots with a total of 56 dwelling units on new public roads on the rear portions of 870, 874 and 876 Herring Cove Road and PID 40074551, Herring Cove.

The applicant wishes to create 41 new lots containing a mix of single unit dwellings and two-unit dwellings, for a total of 56 dwelling units. The major aspects of the proposal are as follows:

  • Proposed street extension off Angler Drive;
  • 41 lots proposed;
  • Total of 56 dwelling units including 30 single unit dwellings, seven (7) two-unit dwellings, and four (4) two-unit dwellings containing accessory dwelling units; and
  • 17,102 sq m of proposed natural open space.

The Development Plans (provided below) outline the development proposal in detail, and include information related to proposed lots, driveway access, proposed parkland and proposed natural open space. 


The application will be considered under the Development Agreement Process.


Currently this application is at the team review stage of the process where the request is reviewed by internal municipal staff from Development Engineering including Traffic Services, Civic Addressing, Development Officer, Parkland Planning, Parking Services, Transit, Regional Planning, Halifax Water, and Fire Protection Services as well as externally by Nova Scotia Power and Halifax Regional Centre for Education.
