Substantive amendment to an existing development agreement for 6324 & 6330 Quinpool Road, Halifax to allow an additional 2 storeys to the approved 8 storey building.

Proposal

The applicant wishes to amend the existing development agreement to add 2 additional floors, resulting in a 10-storey building at 6324 & 6330 Quinpool Road.  No other changes to the building aspects are proposed. The additional 2 stories will be added to the tower portion of the building, yielding 38 additional units, resulting in a total of 193 units.

This request stems from the proposed amendments associated with the Housing Accelerator Fund that aims to allow more dense housing development in response to the significant challenges HRM is facing relating to housing affordability and availability.  Please visit the Housing Accelerator Fund website for more information.  
 
The Development Plans (provided below) outline the development proposal in detail, and include information related to the building site plan and elevation

Process

The application will be considered under the Substantive Amendment Process.

Status

A sign will be posted by the applicant on the subject site advertising the intent to amend the development agreement. Adjacent property owners will be notified of the proposal by mail. All comments are welcomed. 

Staff will undertake a detailed review of the application prior to sending a recommendation report to Halifax and West Community Council.

Documents Submitted for Evaluation

The applicant has submitted plans and studies required by HRM staff to properly evaluate the application. The documents are also available for review at the Planning Applications office in Downtown Dartmouth.
