EN FRHalifax Regional Council today approved the recommendation by the Board of Police Commissioners to appoint Dan Kinsella as the next Halifax Regional Police Chief after a nation-wide search. Mr. Kinsella, who is currently Deputy Chief of Operations for Hamilton Police, assumes his new role on July 1, 2019.

ENAt 9:20 p.m. on April 29, Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of weapons call at Berkley Brae/Glenwood Avenue in Dartmouth. A caller reported to 911 that he was assaulted in his vehicle by three males who exited another vehicle while at a stop sign. The caller sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital and his vehicle was damaged.

ENAt 11:50 p.m. on April 28, police responded to the 0-100 block of Fraser Road in Williamswood to a report of a vehicle fire. Police discovered a Ford F150 fully engulfed in flames. Investigators are treating the fire as suspicious. No surrounding properties were damaged.

ENAt approximately 2:16 a.m. on April 28, police responded to a liquor establishment in the 6200 block of Lady Hammond Road in Halifax where staff reported a female patron was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot.
