Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking artist-led proposals for the creation of hanging indoor sculptural installations as part of the new Beechville Lakeside Timberlea (BLT) Community Centre. The new community centre is located near the historic African Nova Scotian community of Beechville.
We are prioritizing submissions with established ties to one or more of the 52+ historic African Nova Scotian communities, while also encouraging submissions from artists of African descent across the wider community.
Project Budget: $200,000 + HST (CAD)

The municipality is seeking artist-led proposals for the design of an original work of art to be painted on the sea can used for the storage of life guarding equipment at the beach in Lake Echo District Park. This artwork will be created as part of an ecological restoration initiative at the beach. It is intended to serve as a demonstration of the importance of connection to community in climate action.
The Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking artist-led proposals for the design of an original artwork to be installed in the newly renovated Dartmouth North Community Centre (134 Pinecrest Drive, Dartmouth, NS). The intended site of the artwork is a elevated wall space in the main hallway and gathering area.

The Dartmouth North Community Centre serves one of HRM’s most vibrant and diverse cultural constituencies. A broad number of user groups take advantage of the Centre’s offerings which include athletics and recreation, arts and cultural expression, community gatherings, family and social support services, educational activities and workshops, and more. Given all of this, it is important that the artwork commissioned through this process be relevant and engaging to a wide range of audiences of all ages, interests, cultural backgrounds and socio-economic realities. Artists are encouraged to engage with community or school groups in the creation of the artwork.
