NOTICE OF SECOND READING

BY-LAW L-202, RESPECTING LICENSING OF CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION RECYCLING AND DISPOSAL OPERATIONS

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Halifax Regional Municipality will consider the adoption of By-law L-202 at a meeting of Regional Council to be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in the Halifax Council Chamber, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax.

By-law L-202 will amend By-law L-200, Respecting Licensing of Construction and Demolition Recycling and Disposal Operations. The purpose of the amendment is to reduce duplication with Provincial regulations and allow the municipality to place more focus on diversion of construction & demolition debris and mitigating nuisances to the community.

The Council will receive written submissions from interested persons concerning the above by-law at the August 5, 2025 session of Council. Written submissions must be received by the Municipal Clerk’s Office no later than 9:00 a.m. on the advertised date.  Written submissions may be forwarded to the Municipal Clerk by email, clerks@halifax.ca, by fax, 902-490-4208; or by mail, P.O. BY-LAW S-317, RESPECTING STREETS

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Halifax Regional Municipality will consider the adoption of By-law S-317 at a meeting of Regional Council to be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in the Halifax Council Chamber, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax.

By-law S-317 will amend By-law S-300, Respecting Streets, amend By-law R-100, Respecting the Repeal of By-laws and Ordinances, and repeal Ordinance 180, the Streets Ordinance of the City of Halifax. The purpose of the amendments is to add clarity to the application process and guidance for the Engineer when considering temporary street closures, improve performance security options, and several housekeeping amendments.
