NOTICE OF APPROVAL 
BY-LAW P-509, RESPECTING PARKING METERS FOR THE REGULATION OF PARKING OF VEHICLES LEFT STANDING IN THE HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that By-law P-509, Respecting Parking Meters For The Regulation Of Parking Of Vehicles Left Standing In The Halifax Regional Municipality was adopted by Halifax Regional Council on June 14, 2022.

The purpose of By-law P-509 is to amend By-law P-500 to increase the by-law fine amount from $35 ($30 if paid in 7 days) to $45 ($40 if paid in 7 days).

The text of the amended By-law P-500 may be viewed on the Internet in the Legislation & By-law section at halifax.ca or copies obtained from the Office of the Municipal Clerk, 1841 Argyle Street, 1st floor, Halifax between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. 

Effective date: June 18, 2022

NOTICE OF SECOND READING
BY-LAW U-109, RESPECTING USER CHARGES

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Halifax Regional Municipality will consider the adoption of  By-law U-109 at a meeting of Regional Council to be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 in the Halifax Council Chamber, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax.

The purpose of By-Law U-109 is to amend By-Law U-100 to add Schedule 6 titled “Property Information Inquiry User Charges” to create a new online service to streamline and automate property access requests.

The Council will receive written submissions from interested persons concerning the above by-law at the June 28, 2022 session of Council. Written submissions must be received by the Municipal Clerk’s Office no later than 9:00 a.m. on the advertised date.  Written submissions may be forwarded to the Municipal Clerk by email, clerks@halifax.ca, by fax, 902-490-4208; or by mail, P.O. NOTICE OF SECOND READING
BY-LAW R-109, RESPECTING THE REPEAL OF BY-LAWS AND ORDINANCES

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Halifax Regional Municipality will consider the adoption of By-law R-109 at a meeting of Regional Council to be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in the Halifax Council Chamber, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax.

By-law R-109 will amend By-law R-100 Respecting the Repeal of By-law and Ordinances. The purpose of the amendment is to repeal By-law P-800, the Pesticide By-law, which will be replaced with an Integrated Pest Management Strategy. If the By-law is repealed, pesticide regulation will fall under the existing Non-essential Pesticides Control Act of 2010, which is administered by the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Climate Change under the Environment Act. As such, repealing By-law P-800 is a matter of administrative housekeeping to align HRM policy with that of the Province, and will not impact the availability and use of non-essential pesticides.
