NOTICE OF APPROVAL

BY-LAW S-317, RESPECTING STREETS

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that By-law S-317, Respecting Streets was adopted by Halifax Regional Council on August 5, 2025.

By-law S-317 amends By-law S-300, Respecting Streets, amends By-law R-100, Respecting the Repeal of By-laws and Ordinances, and repeals Ordinance 180, the Streets Ordinance of the City of Halifax. The purpose of the amendments is to add clarity to the application process and guidance for the Engineer when considering temporary street closures, improve performance security options, and several housekeeping amendments.

The text of the amended By-law S-300 may be viewed online, or copies obtained from the Office of the Municipal Clerk, 1841 Argyle Street, 1st floor, Halifax between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Effective date: August 16, 2025

NOTICE OF APPROVAL

BY-LAW L-202, RESPECTING LICENSING OF CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION RECYCLING AND DISPOSAL OPERATIONS

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that By-law L-202, Respecting Licensing of Construction and Demolition Recycling and Disposal Operations was adopted by Halifax Regional Council on August 5, 2025.

By-law L-202 amends By-law L-200, Respecting Licensing of Construction and Demolition Recycling and Disposal Operations. The purpose of the amendment is to reduce duplication with Provincial regulations and allow the municipality to place more focus on diversion of construction & demolition debris and mitigating nuisances to the community.

The text of the amended By-law L-200 may be viewed online, or copies obtained from the Office of the Municipal Clerk, 1841 Argyle Street, 1st floor, Halifax between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Effective date: August 23, 2025

NOTICE OF SECOND READING

BY-LAW C-703 RESPECTING MUNICIPAL CEMETERIES

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Halifax Regional Municipality will consider the adoption of By-law C-703 at a meeting of Regional Council to be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 in the Halifax Council Chamber, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax.

By-law C-703 will amend By-law C-700, Respecting Municipal Cemeteries. The purpose of the amendments is to extend the lifespan of municipal cemeteries and support their ongoing day-to-day operations.

The Council will receive written submissions from interested persons concerning the above by-law at the September 9, 2025 session of Council. Written submissions must be received by the Municipal Clerk’s Office no later than 9:00 a.m. on the advertised date.  Written submissions may be forwarded to the Municipal Clerk by email, clerks@halifax.ca, by fax, 902-490-4208; or by mail, P.O.
