    The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency (HRFE) and the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources (NSDNR) are on the scene of an uncontrolled wildfire in the Susies Lake area of Halifax, in the vicinity of Bayers Lake.

    Police are assisting Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency with the response to a fire at Susies Lake in Halifax. Police are asking the public to avoid the Bayers Lake area. Evacuations and street closures are underway. Lessening the traffic congestion will help crews respond to the fire and allow those evacuating to leave safely.

Installation of an airport-style baggage X-ray machine and walk-through metal detector is currently underway at the front doors of the building and will be in operation starting Monday, Aug. 18.
