The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that due to the presence of algae blooms, a risk advisory is in effect for Lake Banook and Lake Micmac. Residents are encouraged to avoid swimming or allowing pets in either lake until further notice.

At 4:20 a.m. on August 13, officers responded to the 0-100 block of Highfield Park Drive in Dartmouth for a report of a physical disturbance. The investigation led officers to an apartment in the same block where a 52-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were arrested without incident.
