311 Contact Centre

More than a telephone number, 311 is your direct connection to important municipal services and information. There are three customer service centre locations in the Halifax region.  You can also contact 311 by phone, regular mail, online service requests, or email (contactus@311.halifax.ca). 

Important note:

  • Email attachments exceeding a total of 20MB cannot be received by 311. You can zip your file and attach that zipped file to your email.

Call 311 toll-free from anywhere within the Halifax region. A friendly and knowledgeable agent can provide a wide variety of municipal information and services in over 300 languages. If you have a question about a municipal service, 311 is your one-stop-shop.

Closed on statutory holidays

After-hour urgent service for:

  • road maintenance issues such as sinkholes, traffic light problems, and street obstructions
  • plumbing or electrical issues at municipal facilities
  • animal services like an injured or found dog, or an aggressive animal
  • illegally parked vehicles 

Always dial 911 in an emergency—when someone’s health, safety, or property is threatened, and when help is needed immediately.
