EN FRAt approximately 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan.22, 911 received a call from the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO) about a chemical spill in the BIO building. At approximately 6 p.m. the situation was resolved, the evacuation order lifted and the MacKay Bridge was reopened.

EN FRThe Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that, due to a chemical spill at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (1 Challenger Drive, Dartmouth), a 250-metre mandatory evacuation is in place and will remain until the scene is secure. This area includes the MacKay Bridge and the bridge has been closed as a precaution.
