The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the overnight winter parking ban will be enforced from 1 to 6 a.m. (in both Zone 1 – Central and Zone 2 – Non-Central), to allow crews to properly clear streets and sidewalks.

Police are advising citizens to be cautious of a scam that targets seniors that is continuing to occur throughout our region and are asking for the public’s assistance identifying the two men in the attached photos who are suspects involved in multiple frauds committed in the Halifax area.

At approximately 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan.22, 911 received a call from the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO) about a chemical spill in the BIO building. At approximately 6 p.m. the situation was resolved, the evacuation order lifted and the MacKay Bridge was reopened.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that, due to a chemical spill at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (1 Challenger Drive, Dartmouth), a 250-metre mandatory evacuation is in place and will remain until the scene is secure. This area includes the MacKay Bridge and the bridge has been closed as a precaution.
