The Halifax Regional Municipality provides opportunities for its local creative community through several key programs.
The Municipality administers an annual Grants to Professional Arts Organization Program providing general operating assistance and project-specific support to local not-for-profit professional arts and cultural organizations.
As opportunities arise, the Public Art Program invites artists and creative professionals to submit proposals for public realm art installations to be integrated within new and renovated municipal infrastructure projects.
Every two years, HRM issues a call for nominations to its local literary art, storytelling and spoken word communities to serve as the Municipality’s Poet Laureate.
Active Municipal arts opportunities will be posted here on an ongoing basis. If you wish to receive email updates on HRM’s arts and cultural programming, please submit a request to be added to the HRM ARTS e-distribution listserv.
Professional Arts Grant Program - CLOSED
Applications to the Grants to Professional Arts Organizations Program are accepted annually by the municipality. The program provides operating assistance and project assistance funding to not-for-profit professional arts organizations in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
The program is not currently accepting applications. The 2018-2019 program will be released shortly. Please check back frequently for updates or contact the program administrator via the Culture and Events Office.

Parks & Recreation maintains an email-based distribution list where groups can post their upcoming activities and events, the latest cultural news and all that is culture-related in the region. Municipal cultural opportunities are also disseminated via this platform, in addition to several others.
