The municipal government offers a number of professional arts and cultural opportunities ranging from grant programs, cultural planning initiatives, public art requests for proposals, as well as volunteer advisory positions.

2018-2020 Nomination Process and Program Guidelines
The Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking nominations for the position of Poet Laureate for a 2‐year term, from 2018‐2020, to commence April 2018.
The municipality defines the Poet Laureate as a resident poet, storyteller or spoken word artist who has achieved excellence amongst their peers and whose body of work demonstrates connection with and relevance to the citizens of the municipality.
DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS: Nominations must be submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Friday, February 23 at 4 p.m.

Professional Arts Grant Program - CLOSED
Applications to the Grants to Professional Arts Organizations Program are accepted annually by the municipality. The program provides operating assistance and project assistance funding to not-for-profit professional arts organizations in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
The program is not currently accepting applications. The 2018-2019 program will be released shortly. Please check back frequently for updates or contact the program administrator via the Culture and Events Office.
