At approximately 2:15 p.m. today, there was an incident at the Lake Major water treatment plant due to a mechanical malfunction with a crane. Working with Halifax Water, Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency commenced a precautionary evacuation of the children attending day camps and day cares at the North Preston Community Centre due to a potential HAZMAT issue at the plant.
