The municipality is proud to have been selected for three Top Employer awards for 2024.  Administered by the Canada’s Top Employer project, these awards recognize employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work and progressive human resources programs and policies.

This year, the municipality has been designated as one of Atlantic Canada's Top Employers (2024), Nova Scotia's Top Employers (2024), and Canada’s Top Employers for Young People (2024).

This is the third consecutive year that the municipality has applied for, and received, the Atlantic Canada's and Nova Scotia's Top Employers (2024) awards and the second time the municipality has applied for and been recognized in the Canada’s Top Employers for Young People (2024) category. 

For selection as one of Atlantic Canada's and Nova Scotia's Top Employers, the municipality was acknowledged for its in-house wellness programming, mental health coverage, paid sick days, strong benefits package and pension plan. It was also recognized for its hybrid work options, transit subsidies, subsidized parking, and a variety of onsite amenities, including an onsite fitness facility at the municipality's head office. For selection as one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People, the municipality was acknowledged for helping recent graduates get started on their careers through the Bridging the Gap Internship.
