Careers that make a difference
Careers that make a difference
A municipal public servant makes a difference in the lives of over 400,000 people in the Halifax region. The municipality employs between 3,600-5,000 people annually. You could be one of them.
Mechanics, accountants, bus operators, planners, police and fire services: municipal careers are diverse and hands-on and offer exciting and dynamic opportunities. Municipalities are the closest level of government to the public and employees take pride in making Halifax the best it can be.
Covid-19 Measures for Job Applicants
HRM takes the health and safety of its job applicants and employees seriously. Where possible, recruitment testing and interviews will be done by way of phone, video conference, or other virtual means to assist with and encourage social distancing. For applicants with concerns about computer or internet access requirements or to request an accommodation, please contact Human Resources at jobs@halifax.ca
If your in-person attendance is required for any phase of the recruitment process, measures will be put in place to protect you and prevent the spread of COVID-19. A detailed outline of physical distancing, ways to prevent infection, provincial health, and a self-assessment will be provided to you if you are invited to participate in-person. Please note: Candidates are required to wear a non-medical mask inside all municipal buildings.
Out-of-province job applicants must make their own arrangements to attend in-person meetings and they must follow all provincial travel guidelines. Any applicant who has traveled outside of the area, will be required to self-isolate for 14-days prior to attending testing and interviews.
If you have tested positive, have been exposed to, or are experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms, please contact 811 and please notify your human resource representative prior to attending any in-person assessment or interview. Your representative will work with you to reschedule your appointment.
Failure to comply with these protocols may result in being removed from the competition. For more information, please email us at jobs@halifax.ca.
