Request the removal of refrigerant gases (CFCs) from your residential refrigerator, air conditioner, or other cooling appliance prior to garbage collection.
This is a free service for all properties eligible for curbside collection. Some appliances may be eligible for the Efficiency Nova Scotia Appliance Retirement program.
The CFC removal program is strictly residential. Rental properties over six (6) units and commercial properties (incl. condos) that are not serviced by HRM’s curbside collection program are not eligible.
Ensure that the appliance is in an upright position and accessible. Please remove all appliance doors. If inside the building, the home owner must be present to grant access.
Once the CFCs have been removed a decal will be applied to the appliance indicating it’s acceptable for pickup on regular garbage collection day.
You will be contacted by the CFC removal contractor to schedule an appointment within 10 business days of submitting your request.
