COVID19 UPDATE: Until further notice, only events which meet current provincial health authority guidelines will be considered within the public Right-of-Way. Events must be planned or coordinated by an official Organization or Association (i.e. an individual cannot host an event).
Before an event is approved, a member of the organization or association involved with the event must sign and return a COVID-19 WAIVER (sample). A completed waiver form will be sent to you upon receipt of your application (see below).
If you are interested in hosting a block party or looking for information on what is involved in hosting a block party, call 3-1-1 or contact ROWpermitapps@halifax.ca directly for information. Street closures for this type of event must be approved by the Engineer.
For other events (parade, walk, run, march, etc) in the public right-of-way (street or sidewalk), you are required to fill out an application. Each application will be reviewed on its own merit, with safety of participants the number one consideration. Per the Motor Vehicle Act, these events must be approved by the Traffic Authority and an approved event will receive a permit signed by the Traffic Authority. You can fill out the application and return the saved pdf file to the email address on the application.
