The Immigration strategy aligns to the HRM Diversity & Inclusion Framework, which guides the work of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Work was done with the Halifax Immigration Partnership as well as with community and service providers to ensure the delivery of an inclusive public service for new residents; the provision of a safe work environment for immigrants and migrants; the development of equitable processes of attraction and retention into the HRM workforce; the continuous building of meaningful partnerships with immigrant-serving organizations as well as with immigrants, migrants, and new residents; and the provision of timely and accessible information to new residents in Halifax. This strategy will help to guide the municipality from 2022 to 2026 and is meant to be a work upon which future strategies can be built, each attempting to have a municipal government that reflects its residents.
