MINORREV 2024-01201 (Regional Centre Land Use By- law - Annual Housekeeping Amendments) Approved by Regional Centre Community Council on September 4, 2024 and came into effect April 17, 2025.

MINORREV 2024-01198 (Housing Accelerator Fund-HAF 2) Approved by Regional Council on March 18, 2025 and came into effect April 23, 2025.

The text amendments have been updated in the associated Land Use By-Laws and Municipal Planning Strategies; however, the new maps are pending.  

The effective plan areas are as follows:  Bedford Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) & Land Use By-law (LUB), Cole Harbour-Westphal MPS & LUB, Dartmouth MPS & LUB, Eastern Passage-Cow Bay LUB, Halifax MPS and Halifax Mainland LUB, Regional Centre SMPS & LUB, Sackville MPS & LUB, Suburban Housing Accelerator SMPS & LUB.

What is a plan area?

Plan Areas are communities of interest which have their own set of land use by-laws and policies which specifically apply to them. Currently there are twenty-one community plan areas in Halifax Regional Municipality.

Plan Areas are listed in alphabetical order by geographic descriptor. Where a Plan Area affects more than one community, an alphabetical list of communities which fall within that Plan Area, in whole or in part, is provided for your reference below.
