On August 15, 2017, Halifax Regional Council adopted Local Improvement Charge By-law L-137 (for the Fall River water servicing project) and approved the related extension of the water service boundary (contained within the Regional Subdivision By-law). Staff Report
Installation (construction) of the new water main in Fall River started late September 2017. For timelines and other information about the installation of the pipes for water services visit Halifax Water’s website.
Local improvement charges are invoiced annually but there are other payment options available:
This is a annual program for low income property owners whose annual gross household income is $33,000 or less.
The application deadline is December 31st of each year.
Please note that the local improvement charges are separate accounts not attached to the property tax accounts.
