Get outside on the Emera Oval year-round! In-line skating in the summer and ice skating in the winter. How great is that? The Emera Oval is an outdoor skating surface equivalent in size to 3 NHL hockey rinks. It is the largest outdoor, artificially-refrigerated ice surface east of Quebec City.
How do I get to the Emera Oval?
The Emera Oval is located on the Halifax North Common at the corner of North Park Street and Cogswell Street.

Can I borrow equipment at the Emera Oval?
At the Emera Oval you can borrow helmets, hockey skates, figure skates, speed skates, sledges and snowshoes in the winter. All children, 12 and under, must wear a CSA multi-impact hockey helmet in the winter.
In the summer you can borrow inline & roller skates, bikes, scooters, plasma cars, helmets and protective gear. Adapted equipment available. All users of the Emera Oval must wear a helmet in the summer.
Rentals are FREE with a valid Government issued photo ID.
