Halifax Municipal Archives welcomes visitors and researchers during its regular drop-in hours, or by appointment at other times.
If you plan to order copies, please bring cash or cheque for payment. Taking images with digital cameras or smartphone cameras is permitted.
Regular drop-in reference hours
An archivist is on hand to assist with your research at the following times each week, excluding public holidays:
Tuesdays: 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Wednesdays: 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
Thursdays: 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
Appointments outside these hours
Contact the Municipal Archives to request an appointment for other times Monday–Friday 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule.
Visit the Municipal Archives at 81 Ilsley Ave, Unit 11, in the Burnside Industrial Park in Dartmouth. Look for the Municipal Archives sign at the south end of the building. We have ample free parking and a secure bike rack.
